1 COVID-19-related death, 17 new cases in Wichita County

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX / KJTL) – Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District reported a new COVID-19-related death in the county on Thursday.

The patient was in his 50s, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Wichita County since the beginning of the pandemic to 562.

The health district also reported 15 new COVID-19 cases in the county on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Wichita County to 33,064.

The health district also reported 40 admissions in Wichita County on Thursday, four falls from the 44 admissions reported Wednesday, February 16th.

The number of cases and hospitalizations due to COVID-19 continues to see a steep decline compared to the increasing number Wichita County saw at the beginning of the year, with just over 100 cases per week so far and a decline of 18 patients in admissions this week so far.

As of Monday, March 29, the Texas Department of State Health Services has opened COVID-19 vaccine eligibility for all adults in Texas.

Residents of Wichita County over the age of 12 can sign up for the waiting list to receive a COVID-19 vaccine online.

Residents of Wichita County who are eligible to receive the vaccine are encouraged to add their names to the waiting list.

From October 26, the Health District now offers booster shots for all three COVID-19 vaccines.

As of November 4, Pfizer COVID-19 Pediatric Vaccine is available to residents of Wichita County between the ages of 5 and 11.
