BERWICK, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — A hospital says more than a dozen people were injured after a car crashed at a benefit held for the 10 people killed in a fire in Pennsylvania, reports say.
Geisinger Hospital says it has treated 15 patients after the crash Saturday night in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
According to WNEP-TV, the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at a restaurant called the Department of Intoxicology.
The severity of the injuries was not immediately known.
A photo posted by WNEP shows firefighters and at least one emergency vehicle at the scene.
Local newspaper The Times-Leader reports that several people have been hit by a vehicle.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
The restaurant posted a statement on its Facebook page:
“Today was an absolute tragedy. We are closed until further notice. Please respect our privacy as we grieve and try to process the events that have occurred. Thank you.”
The benefit was held at the restaurant for the victims of an August 5 fire in Nescopeck, Pennsylvania, which killed 10 people.
The dead included seven adults and three children. One of the firefighters who arrived at the scene was a relative of the victims.
All 10 victims of that fire died from smoke inhalation, the coroner said.
