SAGINAW, MI – With daily virus cases falling in recent weeks, the Great Lakes Bay Health Centers will discontinue its drive-thru testing services later this week.
Health organization officials said its drive-thru services would close after Friday, March 18th.
The move comes two weeks later Saginaw County Health Department officials completed their own drive-thru testing service and Saginaw Township.
The Great Lakes Bay Health Centers were among the first organizations to deliver COVID-19 testing by March 2020, when the pandemic first reached Saginaw County. At the time, it was a surreal sight for some to see the organization’s employees – dressed from head to toe in personal protective equipment – swipe the nostrils of motorists who arrived near the organization’s first drive-thru spot on Lapeer Avenue in Saginaw. The test was offered days after many businesses shut down when public health officials called for social distancing practices.
