As part of the Revive Santa Ana Resident Stimulus Program, a total of $6 million in payments will be made to poor neighborhoods in the city.

This is funded by the American Rescue Act, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in March.

According to a statement from the city, people with poverty rates above the Santa Ana median of 42% are eligible for the aid.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on the residents of Santa Ana, especially those who live in poverty-stricken neighborhoods with overcrowded living conditions,” said Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento.

“The Resident Stimulus Program will help families recover from the economic effects of the pandemic while also returning money to our local economy.”

how to get it

The city said it will send prepaid Visa debit cards to households in the coming weeks.

While limited information is available at this time, the city noted that it will distribute the cards “door-to-door” among rental units.

“If staff are unable to contact a householder at an address, they will be contacted to arrange delivery at a later date,” the message read.

The council could not be reached for direct comment today. However, it said additional details will come later.

Other California Incentive

The move comes because California is still sending out Golden State Stimulus II checks worth up to $1,100.

Governor Gavin Newsom estimates that about two-thirds of the state’s population will receive stimulus payments.

An additional 750,000 checks were issued in the state this week.

California residents who earn less than $75,000 per year and have filed taxes before October 15, 2020 are eligible for the money.
