3,481 new cases of COVID-19, 41 additional deaths reported

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health reported 3,481 new positive coronavirus cases and 41 additional deaths in its latest update.

The agency’s dashboard puts the state’s 7-day positivity rate at 9.3% with an 18.1% positive rate for unique individuals. According to state data, the delta variant accounted for 95.2% of the samples tested this month.

Dashboard data represents cases and deaths that occurred over a series of dates but were reported to the state in the past 24 hours, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

The agency said 1,256 additional Hoosiers are now fully vaccinated. To date, 3,423,797 first doses of the two-dose vaccine have been administered and 3,405,785 individuals have been fully vaccinated

The health department said the fully vaccinated number includes those who received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine.

Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children ages 5-11 after final approval from the CDC.

The County Metric map shows 62 in orange, 21 in yellow, six in red and three in blue. The map is updated every Wednesday.

The weekly score is determined by the weekly number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants of each province and the 7-day test positivity rate.

Since the start of the pandemic, the state has reported 1,061,791 total positive cases and 16,618 total deaths. There are also 573 probable COVID-19 deaths.

The latest hospitalization figures show 1,483 total COVID-19 patients: 1,305 confirmed and 178 under investigation.

The department says 24.6% of ICU beds and 73.9% of ventilators are available statewide.
