Calls for surprising federal stimulus are mounting as people demand more money to offset rising inflation. So far, there have been no words from President Biden or Congress about a surprise stimulus check. However, a coronavirus stimulus check for Illinois residents could come before Christmas.

Coronavirus Stimulus Check from Illinois
Last week, Republicans in the Illinois House of Representatives proposed a one-time $200 stimulus check to help families before Christmas. If successful, individual applicants earning less than $75,000 will receive a $200 stimulus check, while joint applicants earning less than $150,000 will receive $400.
Lawmakers admit $200 isn’t enough to solve problems, but believe it can still have a positive effect by helping people pay bills or cover a week’s groceries.
A $200 check for the coronavirus from Illinois would cost the state about $1.4 billion. The state is expected to use some of the $8 billion COVID aid money it received from the US bailout to hand out these stimulus checks.
Other details of the Illinois coronavirus incentive check are not yet available, but eligible residents are expected to receive the checks in time for Christmas.
California also sends a check-in time for Christmas
California also continues to send payments under the second Golden State Stimulus program. The last batch of payments the state will send should arrive just in time for Christmas.
The state would send the next batch of payments from Nov. 29, in the form of paper checks. These payments would go to those who don’t get an instant deposit and live in a zip code ending between 585-719.
According to the Franchise Tax Board, which is responsible for sending the payment, it can take up to three weeks for the paper checks to arrive. The Franchise Tax Board has already made most of the payments via direct deposit and now sends the remaining payments via paper checks.
“If you haven’t received an immediate deposit by Nov. 15, 2021, you will likely receive a paper check,” the Franchise Tax Board said.
About 9 million Californians are eligible for the year-end Golden State Stimulus Payment. Those who have not received the first round of Golden State Stimulus payments, have a Social Security number, and have an AGI (adjusted gross income) of less than $75,000 are eligible to receive a payment of $600 under Golden State’s second incentive program .
Those who file a paper return are more likely to receive a paper check. In addition, those who get their advance back through their tax authorities, or pay their preparation fees out of the refund, are likely to get a paper check as well. And those who file their returns on paper but select direct deposit as a refund option will also get a paper check.
