Adirondack County urges precautionary measures as COVID-19 cases rise

The health department in Essex County, New York is urging people to take precautions as COVID-19 cases rise in the region.

Health officials said Friday that there is currently a rise in Essex County in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations greater than those seen during last winter’s wave. The trend is similar in the North Country, other parts of the state, and New York City.

Health officials say family and family gatherings are the source of most cases.

Officials in the rural county are pushing for vaccination, boosters, indoor masking and testing to slow the spread of the virus and any new variants.

Franklin County declared a state of emergency the day before.
