Amarillo Report Nov. 18, 184 new COVID-19 cases, 2,564 active in total

Amarillo’s public health department reported an increase of 184 new COVID-19 cases and two more COVID-19-related deaths in Thursday’s COVID-19 report card.

That brings the total number of cases in Potter and Randall counties to 49,355 and the total number of deaths to 927 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Of the total, 2,564 cases were reported as active in Thursday’s report, up from 99 net active cases from Wednesday.

There are 45,864 reported cases of COVID-19 recovery, up from 83 since Wednesday.

Thursday’s report also shows that Trauma Service Area A, which includes Potter and Randall counties, as well as the majority of the Texas Panhandle, is registering an 11.20% hospitalization rate of COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Potter County saw an increase of 64 COVID-19 cases, bringing the county’s total to 24,376 since the start of the pandemic. Of the total, 1,080 are active, an increase of 30 net active cases as of Wednesday. According to Thursday’s report, 22,735 people have recovered and 561 have been killed in connection with the virus.
