Aqib Talib splits with Amazon after brother allegedly shot and killed youth soccer coach

Aqib Talib will not join Amazon’s “Thursday Night Football” broadcast team after all.

Aqib told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on Sunday that he will step down from his role at Amazon after earlier this month.

Aqib was set to join Amazon this season as an analyst for “Thursday Night Football” coverage.

“Aqib Talib was present when this unfortunate incident took place and is very distraught and devastated by this terrible loss of life,” his lawyer said. “He would like to extend his condolences to the victim’s family and to everyone who witnessed this unfortunate tragedy.”

Aqib played 12 seasons in the 2008-2019 league, first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before spending time with the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams. The 36-year-old defensive back was named a Pro Bowler five times and won a Super Bowl with the Broncos.

Aqib spent time with Fox as an analyst after also retiring from the NFL in 2020.
