
Ballad Health: 97% of COVID-19 patients on ventilators not vaccinated | WJHL
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Som downward spiral of COVID-19 admissions followed by top numbers, a trend continues.
Ballad Health has regularly reported that a majority of these COVID-19 admissions involve unvaccinated patients, and an even higher percentage of critical cases have yet to be vaccinated against the virus.
Data on Thursday revealed that 87% of general COVID-19 admissions to Ballad involve unvaccinated patients.
This difference is increasing among critical cases – 97% of those who rely on a fan to breathe have not yet been shot.
Ballad Health recorded a drop in 10 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Thursday, but the number of pediatric patients remains – two children are battling the virus in Niswonger.
An increase was seen in critical COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with six more patients on respirator.

- Total COVID-19 admissions: 390 (-10)
- Total number of COVID-19 PUIs (patient under study): 5 (+2)
- Total COVID-19 admissions: 32 (+5)
- Total emissions of COVID-19: 42 (+1)
- COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit: 51 (-2)
- COVID-19 respirator patients: 35 (+6)
- Pediatric patients at Niswonger Children’s Hospital: 2 (unchanged)
Ballad Health used state-reported data to establish that there have been 80 COVID-19-related deaths in its area across northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia within the past seven days.
