Beloved ‘Santa Bill’ hospitalized with COVID-19

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (KDVR) — A well-known Santa Claus impersonator has been hospitalized with COVID-19.

“Santa Bill”, who looks and plays the role of St. Nick, is fighting the disease at St. Anthony Hospital. According to his family, the 72-year-old first became ill in mid-November.

His son said Santa Bill was vaccinated and planned to get a booster shot before he got sick.

“It lights up for Christmas,” said son Brack Lee. “And right now that light is a little weaker.”

Hoping for the best, the family raises money for the animals, including reindeer and donkeys, at Santa Bill’s “Laughing Valley Ranch” outside Idaho Springs.

A GoFundMe has been created for donations.

“We understand it’s a long game,” Lee said. “It’s going to take a while.”
