Beshear authorizes COVID-19 booster shots for all adults in Kentucky

Governor Andy Beshear has authorized COVID-19 booster shots for all people over the age of 18 living or working in Kentucky, citing concerns about a potential increase in cases and the approaching holidays.

“People, you need to get vaccinated and get this booster, and now it should be pretty easy,” Beshear said on Wednesday announcing his executive order.

The order comes as federal health officials appear to be on the brink of recommending COVID-19 booster injections for all adults as cases begin to rise in some states, fueled by the highly contagious delta strain of the virus. .

That decision could come as early as Friday.

The booster injections are intended to increase the immunity of those who have already been vaccinated and have so far been approved for older adults or those at risk of infection due to health conditions or occupations.
