The gunman who killed a security guard on the set of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” in Brooklyn last month rode a bicycle and followed him from one set to the next before circling the block and shooting him, police revealed. Thursday.
Surveillance videos viewed by police show the man on a bicycle following Johnny Pizarro, 31, from a location on North 12th Street and Bedford Avenue near McCarren Park to 229 North Henry Street, where he was killed at 19. July was shot dead, chief of detectives James Essig said.
“He gets a call from his boss: ‘Go to the other park,'” Essig said of Pizarro.
The video agents showed the bike following Pizarro to the new spot on Henry Street near McGolrick Park and then “circling the block” a few times.
“We see the bike in both locations,” Essig said. “We see him at the shooting location, he circles him, identifies him, targets him specifically, shoots him and kills him and then leaves.”
Police have collected surveillance footage to find out where it went “and hopefully we get that shot,” Essig said of a photo of the suspect.
“We’re following that bike now,” Essig said. “We’ve probably tracked it for at least two miles now. We are waiting for other evidence to see who the victim had contact with.”
Police found 30 to 40 bags of “designer marijuana” in a cooler in the car where Pizarro was shot, Essig said. It was parked on the side of the street and provided security.
Police are still unsure if the marijuana known as “Cali” played a role in the murder, but believe he sold it, Essig said.
“So we don’t know what the relationship with the marijuana was,” Essig said. “We know it’s not personal marijuana use. But we know he was followed from the other park to that location.”
