SOFIA (Bulgaria), 23 February (SeeNews) – The Bulgarian parliament said it approved at second and last reading an increase in the minimum wage and the social security ceiling proposed by the government as part of the 2022 budget.
The lower monthly salary will increase from 650 lev ($ 377/332 euros) to 710 lev, while the salary cap to which social security contributions are tied will increase from 3,000 lev to 3,400 lev, as seen in a video file published on the business news website Dnevnik daily .bg Tuesday.
Both amendments will take effect on April 1st. The government has said it plans to revise the budget for 2022 by the middle of the year.
Parliament also scrapped tax on interest income from deposits in banks established in EU Member States or states in the European Economic Area.
