Senators call for action from Biden
Five senators, Michael Bennet of ColoradoSherrod Brown off OhioCory Booker off New JerseyRaphael Warnock off Georgiaand Ron Wyden of Oregonwrote a letter to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in January urging them to extend the credit, CNN reported.
“The expanded CTC is a signature domestic policy achievement for this administration and has been an overwhelming success,” the senators wrote.
“The consequences of failing to extend the CTC extension are serious, especially as families face another wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
“Following historic progress, it is unacceptable to return to a status quo where children are the poorest people in the United States and child poverty costs our nation more than $ 1 trillion a year,” they added.
