China’s state-run news media Global Timesissued a statement on Monday accusing the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to “encourage Ukraine to fight a 10-year war.”

“It is precisely because of the continuous flow of economic and military assistance from the United States and NATO that has prolonged the military conflict and encouraged Ukraine to fight a 10-year war. But it is ultimately an illusion,” he said. op- said ed. “How long will the conflict last; how many missiles can Ukraine make use of; and how much capability does the country have to keep fighting Russia – depending on how many more weapons the US and NATO are willing to supply to Ukraine.”

The release of the statement comes a few days after the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky talked about the ongoing war with Russia and said his nation can continue to fight for a decade.

“We want to liberate our country, take back what is ours. We can fight against the Russian Federation for 10 years to take what is ours. We can go such a way,” Zelensky said through an interpreter during a recent interview with CNN.

During interviewed, Zelensky also made a plea to the United States and other Western nations for more military equipment. “To fight as one, there must be equipment today or tomorrow, not in two or three months. Some countries just do not offer assistance. They can send millions, but we can still lose our state,” he said.

In response to Zelensky’s comments Global Times also questioned European Union‘s willingness to “watch a 10-year war on its own continent.”

“Imagine what would happen to Europe: It would turn into a bleeding decade,” he said Global Times wrote. “By that time, Europe embroiled in a war will completely lose its security autonomy and become completely dependent on the US umbrella. It will have to face a 10-year crisis with energy, food, refugees and inflation. Social unrest will appear to the surface. “

As op-ed continued, the Global Times went on criticize The United States says the nation has taken advantage of the war in Ukraine “to take Europe under control, unite NATO, land a battle on Russia and possibly gather more strength to contain China in the future.”

In the midst of the ongoing war in Ukraine, China has called for peace between the two countries, while they too judgmental United States for its attitude to the war, which U.S. has condemned Russia’s invasion and sanctioned the Russian economy.
