The Chinese ambassador to the American Qin gang on Thursday called on China and the United States to strengthen cooperation in sustainable agricultural development during a speech during the second part of his Midwestern state tour of America.
“Coming to Iowa gives me a great opportunity to see for myself the boundless black soil and get a hands-on experience of the down-to-earth and refreshing agricultural work here,” Qin said at the 2022 US-China High Level Agricultural Dialogue. The state of Iowa is among the best producers of U.S. corn and pork.
“China and the United States are naturally compatible and complementary to each other in the field of agricultural trade, and our potential for agricultural cooperation is limitless,” the ambassador pointed out. “We must strengthen cooperation in science, technology and education, focus on sustainable development, strengthen technological support and cultivate young agricultural researchers and technicians.”
Qin also stressed the need to improve the exchange of information and restore the agricultural dialogue mechanism “as soon as possible.”
