Chinese investment in US aircraft manufacturer signs FBI, National-Security Reviews

The FBI and a U.S. investment screening panel are investigating a Chinese investment in an aircraft launch after allegations of improper technology transfer to China, according to people familiar with the matter and documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Under review, a Chinese government-backed investment company owns nearly 47% of the shares – the largest of any shareholder – in Icon Aircraft Inc., a California-based manufacturer of small recreational amphibious aircraft. A group of US shareholders have accused the Chinese company of eroding Icon and moving its technology, which the Americans say has possible military uses, to China.
