CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Guardians placed three players on the COVID-19 injury list on Wednesday, including the major league batting leader Owen Miller.

Right-handed starter Cal Quantrill and righty reliever Anthony Castro also tested positive for the virus and was moved to IL before Cleveland’s double-headed mod Chicago White Sox.

Miller, a first baseman, leads the major leagues with an average of .500 and a 1,509 OPS.

“They’re all fine,” Guardians manager Terry Francona said. “It’s good, but it’s frustrating.”

Francona said each player reported symptoms and underwent testing Tuesday. They immediately went into health and safety protocols when the diagnosis was made.

First base man Yu Changwhich was placed on IL for undisclosed reasons on April 15, was confirmed by Francona to have tested positive for COVID.

“I do not know we are out of the woods yet,” Francona said. “I hope we are, but we do not know yet. In a clubhouse, unfortunately, there is very close contact.”
