Coalition distributes free COVID-19 test kits at home

COVID-19 test kits are handed out every Tuesday afternoon

FARMINGTON, ME – That Healthy social coalition (HCC) of Greater Franklin County, a subsidiary of Franklin Community Health Networkdistributes for free at home COVID-19 test set weekly on Tuesdays from 15-17.30 via drive-thru distribution outside his office at 105 Mt. Blue Circle, Suite # 1 in Farmington as long as stock is available.

The tests that are distributed are approved for home use in people aged 2 and older with results of ten minutes. The kits are provided by The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Testing is an important tool for mitigating the spread of COVID-19. According to the US Centers for Disease Control, COVID-19 testing in the home can be used in the following circumstances:

  • For anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
  • At least five days after a known exposure to a person with COVID-19
  • Immediately before going to a large gathering or indoor event with people who are at risk of serious illness or may be unvaccinated

The US CDC advises on the importance of reading the complete manufacturer’s instructions for use before using test kits at home. If users do not follow the manufacturer’s instructions, the test result may be incorrect.

HCC is also distributing kits to its community partners and in community settings, including the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics at UMF on March 2, 16, and 30. Learn more about the upcoming clinics.
