On December 21, the US-China Policy Foundation hosted its annual gala. Chinese Ambassador to the US Qin Gang made remarks.
In his remarks, Ambassador Qin said the relationship between China and the US has experienced serious difficulties in recent years. This is not in the fundamental interest of the two peoples. China’s development is aimed at meeting the people’s pursuit of a better life, not entering into a win-lose contest with any country. In fact, China’s continued and stable development poses no threat to the United States. It is a great opportunity and advantage. Common development should become an important consensus of China and the US. We hope that the US will respect the right of the Chinese people to a better life and accept China’s development. President Xi Jinping stressed that China and the US should respect each other, coexist peacefully and have a win-win cooperation. I hope that you will all gather wisdom, jointly explore how our two countries can get along, and how to put China-US relations back on the right track of healthy and stable development.
The American participants look at the history and look forward to the future of the relationship between the US and China. They especially emphasize the importance of strengthening exchanges and communication, as well as increasing mutual understanding and trust between the US and China.
Founded in 1995, the US-China Policy Foundation (USCPF) aims to promote mutual understanding between US-China policymakers, government officials, and researchers to advance US-China relationship. Washington State Representative and Co-Chair of the US-China Working Group of the United States House of Representatives Rick Larsen, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of State Rick Waters, former United States Ambassador to China J. Stapleton Roy as well as others attended the event.
