Cone Health reduces COVID-19 testing, vaccination sites | News

Cone Health has begun scaling down its COVID-19 testing and vaccination offerings, the hospital system announced in a recent press release.

The decision comes as lower COVID-19 case numbers have led to a sharp drop in demand for both services, the statement said.

On March 11, Cone Health stopped its weekly testing and vaccination clinics at the NC A&T Alumni Foundation Event Center and its testing services at Greensboro Coliseum’s Piedmont Hall.

Vaccines will still be available at Cone Health pharmacies, outpatient clinics and through Cone Health Mobile Health, which serves inpatients and patients in long-term care facilities throughout Piedmont.

The health care system will continue to offer community testing at 4810 W. Wendover Ave. in Greensboro.

Appointments for both tests and vaccines will still be required. The public can make an appointment at conehealth.com/testing, conehealth.com/vaccineor by calling 336-890-1188 Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. 7 to 19

For children aged 5 to 11 years, several Cone Health affiliated pediatricians will only offer the vaccine to existing patients. Patients can make these appointments by calling their providers.

Children aged 12 and over can book an appointment online at conehealth.com/vaccine.

On March 14, it was two years ago that Cone Health offered its first COVID-19 test to the public.
