County-by-county look at COVID-19 in Virginia; which areas experienced the largest increases on Friday, May 20, 2022

RICHMOND, Va. – The health department reported that 22,102 more people were tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 115,476 PCR tests that were treated during the last week. That brings Virginia’s total number of coronavirus cases to 1,755,290.

As of Friday’s update, 51,149 (+449 from the previous Friday) people had been hospitalized and 20,338 (+21) people had died from COVID-19-related illnesses, according to the update. Virginia Department of Health (VDH) data.
