Sorry Icky, no Vegas trip for you.
A Texas couple was asked last month to rearrange their luggage at Lubbock Airport because it exceeded the weight limit. But when they opened the suitcase, they discovered their little Chihuahua, Icky, was hiding inside.
“They put it on the scale and this bag is actually about five, five and a half pounds overweight. Really soon we’re like, oh, we need to rearrange some things. Open it up and literally, here comes our dog out of my boot, comes out of my boot with his head up,” Jared Owens, who traveled to Las Vegas with his wife Kristi on September 26, told KCBD. “[Icky’s] the burrower, that’s what she does. She digs herself in clothes, she digs herself in, suitcases of course now.”
Photos showed Icky peeking out from a cowboy boot in the trunk.
Owens thanked Cathy Cook, the Southwest Airlines employee who made the discovery. Cook even offered to watch the pup, he said.
Fortunately, the couple had family nearby who could take Icky home, NBCDFW reported.
Owens said they were thankful they found Icky before the flight and promised to double check their bags for the little burrower before their next trip.
