Latest developments:

• The Department of Health on Thursday reported 226 new confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 116 cases on Oahu, 57 on the island of Hawaii, 22 on Maui, 21 on Kauai and 10 residents diagnosed out of state.

• The DOH said Thursday’s case count includes about 70 backlog cases in the state, involving test providers that recently began providing data to DOH’s electronic lab reporting system. DOH expects further backlogs to be reported in the coming weeks.

• There are now 86,316 confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 58,894 in Oahu, 11,492 in Hawaii County, 10,164 in Maui County (9,774 on Maui, 245 on Molokai and 145 on Lanai), and 2,936 on Kauai. Out of state, a total of 2,830 Hawaii residents have been diagnosed.

• Seven new deaths were reported on Thursday; the statewide death toll now stands at 992.

• Honolulu County has an average of 54 new cases per day and a test positivity rate of 1.5 percent, followed by Kauai County at 14 cases and 2.8 percent, Hawaii County at 17 cases and 2.4 percent, and Maui County at 12 cases and 1 .3 percent.

• Hawaii has achieved a vaccination coverage of 72.3 percent of the state’s total population, with Honolulu County at 75 percent, Kauai and Hawaii at 68 percent and Maui County at 65 percent.
