
COVID-19 deaths, hospitalizations plunge across New York
Deaths due to COVID-19 fell to single digits in New York, and hospitalizations hit the lowest number since Aug. 3, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Saturday.
Five New Yorkers died of the virus Friday, including a resident of Brooklyn and a resident of Manhattan, Hochul said.
The number of hospitalized patients was 925 on Friday.
Of the 136,585 COVID-19 test results returned nationwide on Friday, 2,642, or 1.93 percent, were positive. The nationwide seven-day average positivity rate was 1.85 percent and 1.39 percent in New York City.
