COVID-19 hospital admissions in Louisiana under 600, new cases continue to decline | News

NEW ORLEANS – The number of new coronavirus cases rose by 668 on Friday, and the total number of new deaths rose by 25, according to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH).

Since the pandemic began two years ago, 1,225,637 cases have been reported in Louisiana, and the total death toll is 16,606.

LDH reports that not fully vaccinated Louisiana residents accounted for 62% of cases and 53% of deaths from February 10 to February 16. Those who were not fully vaccinated also accounted for 68% of current COVID admissions.

The health department reports that 586 people are hospitalized with COVID across the state, a drop of 37 from Thursday, and 62 of those patients were on respirators, a drop of three.
