COVID-19 in Arkansas: Active cases, hospitalizations continue upward trend

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas rose to the highest number since mid-October, and hospitalizations continued to rise.

New data from the Arkansas Department of Health showed 6,585 active cases of the virus were reported Thursday, 694 more than the day before.

The RDA data also showed that the number of new cases has increased by 1,226, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in Arkansas during the pandemic to 530,994.

Currently, 432 patients have been hospitalized due to the virus, nine more since Wednesday. There were 176 Arkansans in the state’s intensive care units, up five from the previous count, and 78 people on ventilators, four more than the previous day.

Thursday’s data also showed that the death toll has risen by six to 8,693 since the start of the pandemic.

In the past 24 hours, 11,207 new vaccine doses of COVID-19 have been given to Arkansans.

The number of fully immunized Arkansans rose to 1,448,597, while the state’s number of partially vaccinated residents is now 328,745.
