COVID-19 update: New cases remain low over a one-week period in the GLOW region | Top story

BATAVIA – The COVID-19 situation remains quiet in the GLOW region.

Few new cases have been reported during the past week in the four counties. A new death was reported in Livingston County, according to the State Department of Health.

Here is a county-by-county look at the latest data:

n Genesee County – From Wednesday to Tuesday, Genesee County reported 23 new cases for a total of 14,859, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

There have been a total of 184 deaths, according to data from the state Department of Health.

A total of 37,199 people, or 64.7% of the county’s residents, received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York State Vaccine Dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 35,090.

Five out of nine beds in intensive care units were available at United Memorial Medical Center from Thursday.

n Orleans County – From Wednesday to Tuesday, Orleans County reported 25 new cases for a total of 9,439 positive cases.

Orleans County has reported the death of a county resident. Orleans County reports 113 total deaths, while the state Department of Health also reports 113 total deaths among Orleans County residents.

A total of 24,075 people, or 59.3% of the county’s residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York State Vaccine Dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 22,632.

n Wyoming County – Wyoming County reported 13 new cases from Wednesday to Tuesday for a total of 7,749 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

A total of 23,080 people, or 57.6% of the county’s residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York State Vaccine Dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 21,719.

The State Department of Health reported a total of 82 deaths among residents of Wyoming County.

Zero out of seven beds in intensive care units were available at Wyoming County Community Hospital from Thursday.

n Livingston County – A total of one new case was reported Friday, reported to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 11,563 cases have been reported. There have been 89 deaths related to COVID-19, according to the county health department.

The State Department of Health reports that Livingston County has had 114 deaths related to COVID-19 – an increase of one.

A total of 39,891 people, or 63.1% of the county’s residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York State Vaccine Dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 37,726.

Four out of eight beds in intensive care units were available at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville from Thursday.
