COVID-19 WV | 50 additional deaths, 1,466 new cases reported

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports that as of December 2, 2021, there are currently 7,113 active COVID-19 cases statewide.

Since the last report, 50 deaths have been reported, with a total of 4,945 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 55-year-old man from Raleigh County, a 51-year-old man from Kanawha County, a 73-year-old woman from Lewis County, a 90-year-old woman from Raleigh County, an 86-year-old man from Cabell County, a 65-year-old woman from Raleigh County, a 68-year-old man from Berkeley County, a 53-year-old woman from Cabell County, a 76-year-old woman from Putnam County, an 87-year-old woman from Harrison County, a 68 year-old woman from Kanawha County and a 77-year-old woman from Kanawha County.

Included in the total number of deaths reported on the dashboard as a result of the Office of Health’s continued reconciliation of data with the official death certificate are a 97-year-old man from Kanawha County, a 41-year-old woman from Ritchie County, a 81-year-old man from Harrison County, 69-year-old woman from Logan County, 83-year-old man from Cabell County, 70-year-old man from Greenbrier County, 79-year-old man from Mingo County, 61-year-old man from Upshur County, a 75-year-old man from Raleigh County, a 69-year-old man from Doddridge County, a 67-year-old woman from Wyoming County, a 102-year-old woman from Wood County, a 70-year-old woman from Wyoming County, a 80-year-old woman from Kanawha County, 47-year-old man from Wyoming County, 80-year-old man from Marion County, 43-year-old man from Monongalia County, 74-year-old man from Hancock County, 73-year-old man from McDowell County, an 80-year-old woman from Logan C ounty, a 54-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 75-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 77-year-old woman from Greenbrier County, an 84-year-old man from Ohio County, an 83-year-old woman from Ohio County, a 74 year old woman from Mineral County, 94 year old woman from Mingo County, 59 year old man from Mercer County, 52 year old woman from Mercer County, 77 year old woman from Hampshire County, 51 year old man from Preston County, a 78-year-old woman from Mercer County, an 83-year-old woman from Hancock County, a 78-year-old man from Mineral County, a 52-year-old man from Wyoming County, a 93-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 72-year-old Nicholas County woman, and an 84-year-old Summers County man. These deaths range from September to November 2021.

Of West Virginia’s 55 counties, 22 are color-coded red, indicating a high transmission rate. One province is color-coded green, indicating a slow transmission rate. DHHR)

So far, 9,244 cases of the COVID-19 variant, Delta, have been reported.

According to the WV DHHR, 570 COVID-19-positive West Virginians are in the hospital. 193 have been admitted to the ICU and 85 are on a ventilator.

285,357 West Virginians have recovered from COVID-19 complications.

Of the eligible population, 62 percent have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 52 percent have been fully vaccinated against the virus. DHHR)
