Dad. reports 14,001 new COVID-19 infections, 132 new deaths since Thursday

Pennsylvania reported 14,001 new COVID-19 infections from Friday to midnight Sunday as the daily average of new cases rose.

The state also reported 132 deaths over the three days, bringing Pennsylvania’s pandemic toll to 32,411.

On a better note, the number hospitalized with COVID-19 in Pennsylvania continues a downward trend.

Pennsylvania hospitals took care of 2,694 COVID-19 patients early Monday, 614 of whom were in intensive care and 342 requiring ventilators.

The 14-day average of hospitalized patients stood at 2,596 Monday, down from 2,996 on Oct. 20.

Pennsylvania reported an additional 15,414 older infections on Monday from people infected more than once with at least three months between infections. Under a new federal definition, each infection is counted individually. Previously, people who became infected again were counted only once, the state’s health department said in a press release.

The health department said in Monday’s daily update that 73.2% of Pennsylvania residents 18 years or older have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
