PSD News Release: COVID-19 Update from the Department of Public Safety

HONOLULU – COVID-19 testing is performed on an ongoing basis in state prisons and jails as well as in the contracted Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, AZ. The latest test updates received for the Prison and Probation Service are as follows:

Halawa Prison Service – 83 inserted test results; Four (4) positive, 79 negative. One (1) employee has recovered.

Kauai Community Correctional Center – 14 negative inmates’ test results.

Kvindesamfundets Kriminalcenter – 14 negative inmates’ test results.

Hawaii Community Correctional Center Nine (9) negative inmate test results.

Oahu Community Correctional Center Test results of three (3) negative inmates.

Kulani Prison Service – Two (2) negative inmate test results.

Maui Community Correctional Center One (1) negative result of the inmate’s test. One (1) remaining positive employee has recovered. The plant is free of all personnel-related COVID cases.

The Department of Public Safety (PSD) continues to encourage all staff and inmates to be voluntarily tested and receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
