Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa throws three interceptions on training

Tuesday was not a good day for the Miami Dolphins quarterbacks in practice.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, QBs threw a total of six interceptions, half of which came from none other than Tua Tagovailoa. On Twitter, Jackson mentioned it “by far the worst QB day of the camp.”

Tagovailoa’s accuracy was the problem. His steps didn’t go where he wanted them to, with some of them coming in too high. He did throw a number of touchdowns and complete several 25-yarders, but like his interceptions, several of his passes to Mike Gesicki’s tight end didn’t go well, with one bouncing right off his helmet. Tagovailoa also struggled under pressure, with three throws.

The other three interceptions came from backup quarterbacks Skylar Thompson (2) and Teddy Bridgewater (1).

The defensive backs had a little interception party, with Brandon Jones and Nik Needham bringing in Tagovailoa’s foul passes (Jones caught two). Noah Igbinoghene, Elijah Campbell and Quincy Wilson caught the other three.

Hearing that every quarterback was having a bad day isn’t good news. Training camp is a chance for everyone to put in the work of getting back in shape, but the clock is ticking. The season starts in less than a month, and this is presumably not where the dolphins – or Tagvailoa themselves – want their QB.
