dr. Oz fends off Fetterman’s questions about his 10 traits

  • Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman argue on Twitter over each other’s personal wealth.
  • Fetterman called out Oz for not being transparent about the number of homes he owns.
  • In response, Oz said he bought the houses with his own money and that Fetterman “lived off his parents”.

dr. Mehmet Oz, the GOP nominee for a Pennsylvania Senate seat, is again arguing on social media with his Democratic rival John Fetterman.

In a spirited exchange on Twitter, Fetterman and Oz traded barbs over each other’s personal wealth.

“I’ve never spoken to a PA resident who doesn’t know how many houses they have… let alone be gone by 8 a.m.,” Fetterman says. tweeted along with a link to a Daily Beast article about how Oz on the campaign trail had claimed to “own two houses.” According to the Beast’s reporting, Oz owns 10 properties.

“I can’t tell if he’s trying + not to sound like a regular person (with JUST TWO mansions) or if he’s really clueless,” Fetterman noted.

Oz hit back at Fetterman, claiming without substantiation that his opponent “lived off his parents” until he was “almost 50”.

“I bought my houses with MY money,” Oz tweeted. “Get off the couch John!”

Fetterman shot back: “How many houses?”

“I have 10 properties (disclosed when I announced it). 2 houses,” Oz tweeted. “My turn: when can we debate?”

Fetterman is back on the campaign trail after suffering a stroke in May. He has repeatedly criticized Oz – a wealthy celebrity – for being out of touch with the average American. This week, Fetterman poked Oz when the latter messed up the Wegmans supermarket’s name and renamed it “Wegner’s” instead.

The Democratic nominee, whom The New York Times Magazine called the “Mayor of Rust” in 2011, has also tried to present himself as a more level-headed figure in contrast to his Tump-backed Republican opponent. Financial disclosures by both candidates have also revealed vastly different personal finances, with Oz owning millions of stocks and real estate and Fetterman holding just one shareholding worth up to $15,000.

Fetterman’s campaign is known for trolling Oz on social media. He has also expressed his opinion that Oz has a shaky connection to Pennsylvania. After critics repeatedly asked Oz if he lived in the state, Fetterman insisted in July that the Republican nominee be inducted into New Jersey’s hall of fame.

According to Oz’s campaign, he and his wife live in Bryn Atyn, Pennsylvania.

Representatives from Oz’s campaign office and an aide to Fetterman did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment.
