Eating wild blueberries every day may reverse cognitive decline, study suggests

This study could be crucial for future research into dementia, a disease that kills about 67,000 Britons every year and that about one in three people born today will suffer from in the future.

However, this isn’t the only study that has linked blueberries with dementia risk. Another study conducted by the University of Cincinnati also looked at the effect of blueberries on the mind.

The article, published in the journal Nutrients, shows that regular consumption of blueberries can reduce a person’s risk of dementia.

Robert Krikorian, one of the authors of the study, said: “We had observed cognitive benefits with blueberries in previous studies involving older adults and thought they could be effective in younger individuals with insulin resistance. Alzheimer’s disease progresses, as does all chronic diseases of old age, over a period of many years, beginning in middle age.”
