“Quick message to tell you that unfortunately I have tested positive for Covid so I am now isolating myself and following government guidelines,” the 30-year-old said in a statement on his verified Instagram account.
The news comes ahead of his highly anticipated fourth studio album titled “=” (pronounced “equal to”) which will be unveiled on Friday — four years after he started recording it.
“It means I can’t meet any personal commitments for the time being, so I’ll be doing as many of my scheduled interviews/performances from my home as possible,” Sheeran added on Instagram. “Apologies to everyone I’ve let down.”
Sheeran did not mention whether he had been vaccinated at his post. But in July, he joined James Corden for a segment on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” where the two changed the lyrics to Sheeran’s hit song, “Shape of You,” with phrases about getting a Covid-19. vaccine.
“Modera or Pfizer will do. You’ll be fine after shot number two, but wait two weeks for it to take effect.”
