The following states will issue or receive checks in September.

1. Colorado

The Colorado Cash Back Program is powered by the state’s Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR).

TABOR demands that the state return the remaining state revenue.

Nearly every taxpayer in Colorado receives a check for $750 or $1,500 for married couples.

You are eligible if the following applies to you:

  • 18 years old on December 31, 2021
  • Was a Colorado resident for all of 2021
  • File an income tax return in Colorado in 2021 or apply for a real estate tax/rent/heat credit (PTC) discount

In addition, those who filed Colorado tax returns for 2021 but have since moved out of the state in 2022 are still eligible.

If you filed your Colorado 2021 income tax return by June 30, 2022, your check must arrive by September 30.

2. Illinois

The Illinois Family Relief Plan is yet another program that provides assistance to struggling Americans.

Single tax filers will collect $50, while joint filers will collect $100.

However, families with dependents get up to $300.

In order for single taxpayers to be able to take the $50 rebate, they must earn no more than $200,000.

According to NBC Chicago, payments will start shipping September 12, but may not arrive for a few weeks.

3. Minnesota

The Frontline Worker Payments Bill was signed by Governor Tim Walz on April 29, allocating $500 million to those eligible.

The state estimated that approximately 667,000 Minnesotans would qualify for the bonus checks, receiving $750 each.

Under Minnesota law, applications were open for 45 days from June 8 to July 22.

To be eligible, employees must have worked at least 120 hours in Minnesota in at least one primary care sector as of March 15, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

This includes healthcare, long-term care, emergency services, schools, retail, childcare and public transportation.

Employees can expect payouts in September.

4. Indiana

Indiana residents get a tax refund of up to $650.

Hoosiers were supposed to score their checks earlier this month, but paper shortages have slowed the process.

Emily Boesen, a spokesman for the state audit office, said the checks could be issued as early as the week of August 15.

Ms. Boesen told the Associated Press that it will begin printing checks next week and that up to 50,000 checks can be printed per day.

She estimates that everything will be ready by early October.

Individual taxpayers receive checks for $325, while married couples filing jointly receive checks for $650.

Some residents should see their checks as early as September.

Other States Providing Assistance

Hawaii residents will receive a one-time tax refund in late August or early September.

Those who earn less than $100,000 annually receive a $300 discount.

If you go over that threshold, but less than $200,000, you will receive $100.

Families with children can get more money, for example a family of four could get $1,200.

Rhode Island residents line up for an instant payment worth up to $750.

Nearly 115,000 families can receive the $250 child tax credit.

There are up to three children, so the maximum amount a family can receive is $750.
