Four teachers in Colorado Springs instructed students to put on COVID-19 masks.

A Colorado Springs teaching team last month violated district policy and procedure when they “instructed” students to tape COVID-19 masks to their faces, according to Academy District 20 Schools.

On Oct. 15, a parent expressed concern that masks would be put on the faces of Chinook Trail Middle School students if “children wear their face masks incorrectly,” according to a statement from Principal Tom Andrew sent to the school community on Tuesday. sent.

The district’s internal investigation, which received statements from more than 100 students, 10 teachers and school staff, found that the “education team of 642” violated policy and procedure.

“While we found that the teachers did NOT tape a student’s mask to their faces, we did learn that teachers instructed the students to tape their masks to their faces; and students believed they were required by a teacher to use tape to secure their masks to their faces,” Andrew said in the statement.
