Full record in the Senate can reduce passage of Build Back Better
democrats in Congress this year have had their hands full confirming President Biden’s nominations and passing legislation based on his Better build back agenda. They managed to get his swipes American rescue plan before unemployment benefits expired in March, along with a new round of stimulus checks and a host of other measures to covid19 pandemic.
However, negotiations on the next two phases of Biden’s plan stalled as negotiations to pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill while dragging out a larger social spending bill. The infrastructure bill cleared the post last month hoping to pass the second bill before Christmas, but that can’t happen now according to House Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal.
There are several fires that urgently need to be eradicated, most notably financing the federal government’s debt obligations to avoid bankruptcy.
