The IRS will reach out to families eligible for the 2021 Child Tax Credit
Normally, families would have to claim the child tax deduction when submitting a tax return, This year, however, families must submit a tax return for 2020. The IRS urges parents who missed tax day, May 17, to file a tax return, even if you have no income, so they are automatically enrolled for the improved Child Tax Credit for fiscal year 2021 included in the U.S. rescue plan.
Eligible parents will receive a tax deduction for up to $ 3,600 for children ages 5 and under and up to $ 3,000 for children ages 6 to 17. If the IRS decides you can qualify, the agency will send you a letter.
