Freedom Convoy rolls through Fargo to protest COVID-19 vaccine mandates

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Truckers, drivers and many others gathered in Fargo to welcome in a freedom convoy. Many of the supporters reiterated the same message that the convoy is trying to spread that they want to protect their personal freedoms.

“It takes everyone to make change happen, so it’s not just one of us, it’s all of us.” said Derek Depauw, a truck driver who is part of the Freedom Convoy.

“It’s time we got our freedoms back, and so I’m here just to support the truckers out here and do this for us.” said Jennifer Ross.

Many of the supporters and truck drivers shared that their main message through the convoy is to stand up for their personal freedoms as they are against COVID-19 vaccine mandates. This was similar to the protests that took place in Canada last month, where Canadian truck drivers protested against vaccine mandates issued by the government.

“I think if you want to get the shot, you have to be able to get the shot, but if you do not, you do not have to.” said Lance Hagenson of Hagenson Trucking.

“Well, I’m out here because I’m tired of this mask mandate and this vaccine, you know they’re pushing all this through like it’s water and it’s not. It’s viruses, it’s poison , and that’s not okay. ” said Kurtis Silvernail.

Members of the Freedom Convoy in the Fargo-Moorhead area raised support for truck drivers by selling t-shirts to raise gas money. According to Michelle Casias, they were able to raise over $ 9,300, which will support 12 semi-trucks heading to Washington DC

“It takes a huge strain on all of us.” said Depauw.

The majority of the supporters were to Petro Serve on 45th St. S.
