ATLANTA — No. 3 Georgia leads No. 11 Oregon 7-0 after the first quarter of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday. Quarterback Stetson Bennett IV, who returns at bottom center after leading the Bulldogs to their first national title since 1980 last season, is 11-of-13 for 154 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Ladd McConkey pulled in a 9-yard scoring pass from Bennett to give Georgia that early 7-0 lead.

A star freshman in this vaunted Georgia defense, Malaki Starks has made the game of the game so far when he knocked out Oregon quarterback Bo Nix on the 8-yard line by aiming a deep shot in one-on-one coverage. Nix, who got the start for the Ducks after the transfer after a high profile career at Auburn, is 5-for-8 passing 33 yards and the lone interception at noon.
