It follows 34,000 direct deposits issued in California on Friday, November 12.

In total, the latest paper checks and direct deposits are worth nearly $555 million.

The California Franchise Tax Board expects to make approximately nine million payments under the Golden State Stimulus II.

Prior to Friday, 5.65 million stimulus checks had been paid out – 3.35 million still to be issued.

The GSII checks are paid approximately every two weeks until every eligible Californian has received one.

California plans to issue most checks by the end of the year, with most direct deposits made by the end of October.

The checks are worth between $600 and $1,100 and are sent to people who earn less than $75,000 a year.

Meanwhile, those who qualified for the state’s first incentive program can get an additional $500.

Who is eligible for the stimulus checks?

To be eligible for the GSII stimulus checks, you must:

  • You must have filed your 2020 taxes before October 15, 2021
  • Have California Adjusted Gross Income (CA AGI) of $1 to $75,000 for the 2020 tax year
  • Have wages from $0 to $75,000 for the 2020 tax year
  • Be a California resident for more than half of the 2020 tax year
  • Be a California resident on the date the payment is issued

Also note that the checks cannot be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer.

If you qualify for the check, you will usually get it through the refund option you selected on your tax return.

Most direct deposits were made between September 1 and October 31, but if you filed your tax return after September 1, you will have to wait 45 days.

Meanwhile, paper checks go out depending on the last three digits of the zip code on your tax return.

In total, an estimated $12 billion will be spent in hopes of providing financial assistance to residents financially affected by the coronavirus crisis.
