Governor Youngkin updates Virginia’s COVID-19 action plan

RICHMOND, Va. – Governor Youngkin has updated Virginia’s COVID-19 action plan.

Youngkin declares that the plan is to continue the state’s commitment to deliver additional vaccine events, provide flexibility to health professionals and facilities, and create a path of normalcy.

“As we have learned to live with the coronavirus pandemic over the last two years, we know we can protect lives and livelihoods,” Governor Glenn Youngkin said. “With increased immunity to omicron and a decline in cases and hospitalizations, now is the time to map out a path to normalcy. My updated COVID-19 Action Plan and Executive Order 16 is a path forward for all Virginia addressing current needs for flexibility, constantly encouraging individuals to get the vaccine and enabling individuals to make decisions about their own health. “

He has also recently issued Executive Order 16, which extended emergency flexibility and added provisions on nursing homes.

The plan includes more resources and efforts to get people vaccinated. Between January 20 and February 19, over 1,000 vaccine incidents took place. 948 events are planned for the end of April.

His plan also includes giving healthcare providers flexibility and support to combat staff shortages.

“While we will remain vigilant, it is time to start planning a return to normalcy,” Youngkin said.
