Hamilton County is pausing COVID-19 briefings as the omicron shrinks

Hamilton County officials have posted weekly COVID-19 briefings on hiatus for the first time this year as cases and admissions continue to decline in the region.

Commissioner Denise Driehaus said earlier that the weekly COVID-19 updates would be provided “as needed.” Wednesday was the first day since January without a weekly meeting, which had been held weekly on Wednesdays by Driehaus and Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman. The break comes as the winter wave of the omicron variant subsides just as fast as it rose.

An example of how things are eased: 1 in 5 patients in the region’s 40 hospitals currently have COVID-19, a drop from 1 in 3 on top of the winter rise.
