COVID-19 coronavirus Update No. 341

Hillsborough County is offering free pediatric COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5 to 11.

Children ages 5 to 11 who are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian can now receive their first dose of the COVID-19 Pfizer pediatric vaccine at Progress Village Park, 8701 Progress Blvd., Tampa, FL 33619. The site is open from 8am. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and it’s open on Veterans Day, November 11, at regular hours.

The parent or legal guardian of the child must be on site to verbally confirm the child’s age. Although no appointment is required, the appointment for the second dose is made during the first dose visit. To make an appointment for the child’s first dose, a parent or guardian can visit patientportalfl.com. Call (844) 770-8548 for assistance.

The dosage of the Pfizer vaccine for children is one third of the dose for adolescents and adults. Children from 5 to 11 years old are vaccinated with two doses of 10 micrograms given 21 days apart.

Vaccinations against COVID-19 are free on the property of Progress Village Park. Proof of medical insurance is recommended and must be presented at the time of the COVID-19 vaccination. People without medical insurance are still vaccinated for free.

The Progress Village Park site still offers free COVID-19 testing, vaccinations and booster shots during regular business hours.

There are local pharmacies across the county that offer COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines for children. Those locations also offer vaccinations for people 12 years and older and boosters for those who qualify. Visit HCFLGov.net/COVID19 or Vaccines.gov to find pharmacies and other sites that offer vaccinations.
