
Hospital admissions increased, cases down in Riverside County since Tuesday
COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases are stable compared to a week ago when the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off its first weekend.
A dozen more people have been hospitalized with COVID-19 in Riverside County since Tuesday, according to latest county data. The total number of admissions was 55 on Friday. One week ago, the number was 54.
Between Tuesday and Friday, the county added 256 new COVID-19 cases. In the same Tuesday-Friday period the week before, there were 305 new cases.

Three deaths and 496 cures have also been reported since Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic to 6,507.
Booster vaccinations among the 12 and older increased from 32.5% to 32.7%. The number of children aged 5 and older who are fully vaccinated remains unchanged at around 62%.
While new county-level data was released on Friday, new city-level data was not. It will be released again on Tuesday.
The nine Coachella Valley reported earlier this week 193 new cases in the week ending Tuesday. This was an increase of 77% compared to the week before, when 109 cases were reported between 5 and 12 April. The increase coincided with the first weekend of the music festivals. The second weekend started Friday and runs through Sunday.
By Friday, at least two players had to cancel their Coachella sets due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Bishop Briggs, a Scottish-American singer-songwriter who performed on the Outdoor Theater stage last Friday and impressed audiences with her performance while she was noticeably pregnant, announced on Twitter on Thursday that she has been tested positive and will not be able to to carry out its follow-up. set this Friday.
