If you haven’t received your check yet, here’s how to track it – WFTV

The Internal Revenue Service has relaunched a tool that allows Americans to track the second stimulus payment that was circulated last week.

The Get My Payment tool reopened Monday and provides a way to check the $600 incentive checks approved last month.

The first checks were sent electronically beginning Dec. 29, and the first paper checks, for those for whom the IRS doesn’t have electronic banking information on file, went out Dec. 30.

If you’re wondering what to do to get your check, relax. According to the IRS website, you don’t need to take any action to get the second payment.

“Payments are automatic for eligible taxpayers who have filed a 2019 tax return, those who receive Social Security pension, survivors or disability benefits (SSDI), railroad retirement benefits, as well as beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Veterans Affairs who have not filed a tax return,” according to the IRS.

Those who qualify will receive a payment of up to $600 for singles and up to $1,200 for married couples, plus $600 for each eligible child under 17 in the household.

In general, if you adjusted gross income for 2019 to $75,000 for individuals, up to $112,500 for head of household, and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns, you’ll receive the full second payment amount.

For applicants with an income above these amounts, the benefit is reduced.

If you have not filed a return, you will still receive an automatic payment if you registered online with IRS.gov for the first payment using the agency’s “Non-Filers” tool, or if you have filed a simplified tax return which is processed by theirs.

You must have registered before November 21, 2020. The non-filers tool is now closed.

According to the IRS, even if you didn’t file a tax return and didn’t register with the IRS.gov non-filers tool last year, you’re still eligible for a payment.

You will not receive an automatic payment now, but you can claim the “Recovery Discount Credit” when you file your 2020 federal tax return. You can claim the same amount as you would have received with an instant payment check.

Those who have used tax prep company H&R Block may have been delayed in receiving their second stimulus check, but the company is working on it.

According to the company, H&R Block customers who used the Refund Transfer option for their 2019 income tax return were able to see the stimulus payment sent to a temporary account, an account with an account that the customer does not recognize.

The company says it has addressed the issue and the check will be forwarded to the payment method the customer has chosen.

If you are not sure about the amount of your stimulus check, you can use this calculator to see if you are eligible for the payment.
