A STIMULUS check worth up to $6,300 will be mailed to hundreds in Atlanta on December 15; here’s who qualifies for the payment.
Students at a medical school in Atlanta will receive a big gift in the coming days before Christmas.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Morehouse School of Medicine plans to give each of its students $6,300 to pay for various education-related expenses.
The school’s president, Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, wrote an email to the students on Wednesday explaining how the students can use the money.
“I am pleased to announce that Morehouse School of Medicine will provide a $6,300 financial grant to assist each of our currently enrolled, degree-seeking students with additional academic, financial, and mental health support costs, such as childcare, food, transportation, housing, and health care needs. ,” the email said.
The money comes from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, which was passed by Congress and signed into law by then-President Donald Trump in March 2020.
The massive $2.2 trillion action is aimed at helping Americans and businesses financially through the coronavirus pandemic.
The legislation initially included $14 billion for U.S. colleges and students through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, or HEERF.
Federal officials added $21.2 billion to HEERF in January.
In March, an additional $39.6 billion was added through Joe Biden’s US bailout.

Morehouse School of Medicine hopes to have the money among 754 students by December 15.
The medical facility received more than $56 million through that plan.
In November, the Black Medical School Meharry Medical College, located in Nashville, Tennessee, sent out $10,000 in scholarships to most of its 956 students.
Those with direct deposits should have received their payments two weeks ago.
Many other colleges and universities have sent their students incentive checks to help them cover the costs.
Families can also get a cash boost in the coming weeks.
The last round of advance payments of the child tax deduction will be sent on December 15th.
Families with children under the age of six can receive up to $300 per child, while the amount is $250 for those with dependents between the ages of six and 17.
Taxpayers can claim up to $1,800 per child on tax returns next year.
