It “followed a competitive assessment and operational implications, as well as a thorough consultation process and agreement with key stakeholders and the host country,” the statement continued.

The World Cup in Qatar now starts on November 20.

As a result of this move, Senegal’s game against the Netherlands has been moved from the afternoon to the evening of November 21. However, the player release window will remain unchanged, starting on November 14.

FIFA also noted that “cardholders will be duly notified by email that the relevant matches have been rescheduled and that their tickets will remain valid regardless of the new date/time.”

A statement released Friday by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar confirms the host country’s support for the decision.
